We walked along the dusty roads of Lurin soaking in the sites, scents, and sounds of the town; make shift home after home, nostrils filled with smell of earth, the sound of dogs barking, and children's laughter. It was bitter sweet...
Pastor Javier led us to two large doors, set within a high wall. We were not prepared for what we would find hidden behind the doors.
Several families live within the safety of the compound. Each one of the different shelters above is someone's home...
One of the ladies invited us into her home... we sat upon the sectional sofa that was half in, half out of the protection of their roof...
She welcomed us as honored guests and treated us like royalty...
She proceeded to tell us that she would like to make us lunch...
This precious woman who has so very little... this precious sister in Christ Jesus gladly offered us all that she had to feed her children, not knowing where their next meal would come from... we were touch, our hearts were broken and oh, so humbled...
We were so thankful that we had just eaten and could honestly tell her thank you but we had already had lunch. It would have killed me to have taken her family's food when we have so much! Definitely a life lesson learned. Praying that like the widow in 1Kings 17 that only had a handful of flour and a little bit of oil to make bread... that the Lord will continue to replenish it and not let her handful of flour and little bit of oil run out...
The Spirit of God fell upon each of us like a gentle blanket as we layed hands upon her and lifted her and her family up in prayer...
Jesus, please bless this family.... please provide for each of their needs and thank You for the joy of the Lord that shines through this beloved woman and her children...
Some of the precious little children living inside the complex...

Oh, how my heart cries out for the people of Lurin... Lord please watch over them.....
This is a special place... filled with poverty, yet overflowing with the riches of Christ Jesus. A cloud of despair hovers overhead and yet they have the hope of Christ within their hearts.
I asked Jesus to break my heart with the things that break His when He led me to Peru...
He gave me Lurin...
A few days later after feeling like I was suffocating with a feeling of oppression... I asked the Lord to let me see Jesus amongst all the suffering and need....
He gave me Lurin...

Love you!
Beautiful people and Beautiful Savior. What an example and testimony this is to me today.
Thank you for sharing more of your trip!
God bless you Daleea, and the lives you touch!
Sat here in tears, so beautiful. Thank you! Did you get my email about your fundraising/other blog?
What a beautiful post that really shares your heart for the people of Lurin. I pray that God will continue to guide your family's path as you seek His will for your future!
It always leaves me curious when I visit places like this that there are so many in America that have so much and never blink at people in need and here are the poorest of the poor and will offer you everything they have to eat....which is nothing! I will be praying for the people of Lurin:)
